Your penis is in the way.

The other day I overheard a tidbit of sex education being taught to two and a half year old Tommy by his five year old sister, Ellen. It went like this: "Boys can't have babies because their penises are in the way."

I didn't intervene. For the time being, I figure her explanation covers it to the extent necessary for their ages. If it comes up again in ten or fifteen years, however, I will explain that boys can't have babies for other reasons.  I will also tell her that there is, indeed, much boys cannot do because their penises are in the way though, including but not limited to multitasking, concentrating when boobs are nearby (or rock hard pecs in some instances), asking for directions and buying tampons. And when Tommy finds it impossible to do those things when called upon to do them, I will say. "Blame your penis, it's probably in the way."

Uneaten Food

Once again a kid comes through for me. My cousin's kid left a pretty great composition of uneaten food on his tray this weekend. Thank you, Andrew.

A Favorite Model

This is one of my all time favorite models. She always gives me reason to pull out the camera! (You can see her feet in 'Summer Sandal Feet'. )
Someday I would like to have my mother pose in all of the ways this young cousin of mine has! That would be a show to see! Stay tuned for updates on the progress of the 'Mom as Young Cousin' show.

Pre-school art museums

I work with kids so I think I see more art on a daily basis than most people.  Kids are always open to creation - a blank piece of paper never seems to intimidate but allows instead the chance to dive into a new colorful world.  The images kids create never cease to amaze and entertain me.  My favorite 'museums' are the pre-school art shows held at the end of the school year.  Here is a taste of what I have seen!
