Theological Chicken Planting Tree - art from the margins...

I'm too busy with other writing projects to write a worthwhile blog post - thank goodness I have a lot of chickens!

This is a margin doodle from a grad school notebook -
must have been a lecture on ecological theology...
or maybe I was watching a chicken plant a tree in the seminary courtyard.
Either one is a possibility.

It Isn't Just Thursday...

Holy Crap! It's Thursday. That means yesterday was Wednesday... Chicken Wednesday! And I forgot.  So today isn't just Thursday. It's Chicken Thursday!!

Special Gifts and Awesome Parties

Little Tommy gave me a handful of fresh poop today.* This probably shouldn't make me feel special but it does. I don't think little kids just randomly give their poop away - especially little boys. They have a hard time letting their poop go. Years ago I had to convince one reluctant little boy that his poop got to go to a poop party if it fell right from his bottom into the potty. I said that if it landed anywhere else including a diaper, his underwear, the floor, the grass and, yes, even his hands, it would miss the party and feel left out. It worked, but only after a few very important questions were answered.

Q: What are they wearing at the poop party?  A: Party hats.
Q: Is it all my poop or is everyone's poop there? A: Everyone's poop.
Q: Does dog poop go to the party? A: Only if it goes directly into the potty.
Q: What do they drink at the poop party? A: Pee. (his brother answered that one, not me.)
Q: What do they eat? A: Nothing, of course. Poop doesn't eat! (Again, his brother.)
Q: Where do they go after the poop party? A: The party never ends. They just take breaks and naps.
Q: Are my poops boy poops and your poops girl poops? A: Sure, why not.
Q: Is there music and do they dance? A: Definitely.

He pooped in the potty every time after that. And each and every time he did, we answered all of those questions and each and every time we would watch it swirl around when he flushed and we'd wave and yell "Bye! Have fun at the poop party!"

He just turned eighteen. He probably doesn't do that any more. I, however, on occasion still do.

Poops at the poop party...duh.

*Dear Parents, Tommy's hands were thouroughly washed and dried after the poop gifting incident. As were mine. We used paper towels and wipes so no worries, there is no poopy laundry you need to search for in the basement. (At least not from Tommy.) Also, this is  a very good example of why I end up needing to take sick days on occasion.

I Am Horrible

I eat chicken at least twice a week. When I think about it too much I really feel like a horrible person.

Bigfoot Found In The Chicken Coop

I find this very odd since it is something I never thought I'd say, but I happen to personally know someone who is on an international hunt for Bigfoot. I don't know her well enough to ask for permanent residence in her house but I bet she'd let me sleep on her couch for a night or two if I became stranded in Washington state. Thankfully, I can say that she is the one scientist on the show, Finding Bigfoot, who is skeptical about the existence of the 'squatch'. I don't think I'd admit acquaintanceship with one of those other guys.

The first time I saw her on the show I made this chicken drawing and I am making it this Wednesday's chicken for Chicken Wednesday!

Road Trippin' Chickens

A while back, this little van was sitting on 38th Street in Minneapolis. I caught a glimpse as I passed by it and had to whip around and take a picture even though I knew it would make me late for my lunch date. How could I not stop and get a shot of a vehicle that is so fitting for a bunch of clever chickens wanting to take a road trip?

I have no idea who owns this van - but if it's you, I would like to meet you and congratulate you on owning the most ridiculously cute vehicle in the world, thank you for making me smile, and see if someday you might take me for a ride.

Whoop! Whoop! Hula Hoop!

Most chickens don't know how to do this either....

(Please click here if you missed the other talented chicken and would like to see it.)

Chicken in Cognito

I am going to out myself as a ding dong with this Wednesday chicken. Well, to those of you who don't already know I am a ding dong, anyhow. I will admit here and now that I was 18 years old before I realized incognito was one word and Cognito is not a place. (sorry to disappoint you, Mrs. Connor, English teacher of Lincoln Sr. High.)

It's Chicken Wednesday Again!

Dance, chicken, dance! (But ignore the DJs)

And as a special treat, here is an image from an unexpected link I got in an email today.

I have absolutely nothing to say but YES!
Oh, and maybe this:
Dear Santa,  For Christmas this year I would like 3 chickens wearing sweaters please. Love, Cami

Since I like chickens...

...how about I post a chicken every Wednesday?

One talented chicken!

I used up all of my words today working on other things - so here is a chicken jumping rope.
